LEDA MAIELLO

My mother
In March 2020, Italy was in full national lockdown and I went back there from my
home in Tower Hamlets to stay near my family. My mother went to work every day:
her job is at a pharmaceutical lab. Still, when she was home, she tried to make our
quarantine more bearable, and so she cooked. Here she is making tagliatelle in our
small kitchen. This photograph celebrates her hard working, in and out of the house,
during the pandemic and before.
